Summer Turman-Majors, LAC, earned her Ed.S in Clinical Mental Health Counseling along with her Certification in Play Therapy at Arkansas State University in 2023. She is currently working toward her RPT (Registered Play Therapist) license.

When working with children/adolescents, Summer tailors her approach to the clients needs, alternating between Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Child-Centered, and Adlerian. She enjoys using Nature Therapy and Expressive Arts modalities such as Sandtray, Psychodrama, and dance/somatic movement with certain populations. Summer has experience working with children, adolescents, adults, child-parent relationship groups, couples, & families of all backgrounds. With other populations, she gravitates toward Gestalt & Existential practices.

Overall Summer hopes to help people feel seen and understood while motivating them to become the best versions of themselves and giving them hope for the future. She believes it’s essential to strengthen the connection with ourselves; mind, body, and spirit to create harmony in all areas of our lives. Summer is passionate about advocacy, creativity in counseling, and connection/expression. She serves as a Field Advocate for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and is on the ACC (Association for Creativity in Counseling) Conference planning committee.“ All it takes is one person, connection, and experience of compassion and unconditional positive regard to keep moving forward.” With that, she adds that she wants to impact people in the way that her counselors have impacted her and that if we all live by this, the domino effect will continue long after we are gone.

For fun you can catch Summer traveling, dancing, participating in theatre, painting, writing, and spending quality time with her husband & family.
