Alyssa Shaw, LAC earned her BA in Psychology with minors in both Social work and Human Development from the University of Arkansas. She returned to the University of Arkansas to earn her MS in Counseling with a specialty in School Counseling. She is trained in child-centered play therapy, expressive arts and sandtray interventions for children and adolescents. She has had experience working as a Preschool Teacher, and  Registered Behavior Technician implementing Applied Behavior Analysis programs for children with Autism.

She currently provides school-based services to elementary-aged children and their families. She has treated children and adolescents struggling with anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, anger management, grief, trauma, disruptive behaviors, peer relationships, and life transitions. I believe that collaboration with parents and school staff is vital to setting up children for success in all environments. She operates from the perspective that all people are striving towards success, but sometimes need guidance through a therapeutic relationship in order to gain insight and unlock their true potential. She uses a variety of techniques to help her clients gain awareness of their emotional and physical needs and help them find healthier ways to fulfill those needs. She believes that we are all social beings seeking connection and a sense of belonging in all environments.

Although she is from the North Texas area, Northwest Arkansas has been her home for the past 15 years. In her free time, she enjoys spending time in nature and connecting with family and friends over a good meal and a movie.
