Ashtyn McCain, LAC received her Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Arkansas in 2024 and bachelors in 2021. She has worked with children, adolescents, and adults in private practice settings. Ashtyn is thrilled to be able to work in school systems and be a better advocate for the kids (and parents, too)!
Ashtyn uses Gestalt theory in her practice, a holistic approach that focuses on thoughts, feelings, and bodily sensations in the present moment. She incorporates expressive techniques and draws from Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy as well. The ability to be spontaneous, empathetic, and genuine in sessions enables her to adapt to the needs of individual clients within a session. Ashtyn believes that self awareness and acceptance is necessary for growth, and she strives to create a safe and affirming environment to foster that transformation.
Ashtyn has received formal play therapy training through graduate school and had the opportunity to attend multiple play therapy conferences, so incorporating play and fun is important in and outside of the counseling room! Using therapeutic mediums other than words can create meaning and help foster resilience in all of our journeys.
Ashtyn is an Arkansas native and loves to call the Hogs! If she is not in the office, you can guess she’ll be playing volleyball, spending time with loved ones, at the gym, or listening to music.
