Amanda Shover, LCSW earned her Master of Social Work from the University of Arkansas in Little Rock. She holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. Writing articles related to health and education news led to her interest in a helping profession.

Amanda has over 20 years experience in mental health, starting as an outpatient and school-based therapist in both the non-profit and private settings.  She has worked the  past 10 years as an elementary school counselor.  Amanda values a systems-based perspective, supporting children in their natural environment. She enjoys collaborating with parents, teachers, and other health professionals to better understand a child’s struggles, strengths, motivations, and resources.

Amanda has experience with children enduring anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, low self-esteem, and social, behavioral, and academic challenges.  She applies a trauma-informed lens and implements person-centered, cognitive behavioral, solution-focused, and expressive art modalities, including sandtray, painting, and puppetry.

In her free time, Amanda enjoys spending time with her family and three dogs, reading, walking NWA’s beautiful nature trails, and watching the Razorbacks.
