Abby Spencer, LAC received her Masters of Counseling from John Brown University in 2022 and her bachelor degree from Wheaton College in 2017. She has experience working with children, adolescents, and adults in outpatient and school-based settings. She is excited to continue learning and growing in her education and expertise to expand her skilset as an effective counselor.
At the core of Abby’s practice is the belief that empathy and honesty is the key to personal transformation. She strives to create a safe and non-judgmental space where you can be your true self, free from the weight of perfectionism.
As a professional counselor, Abby employs a person-centered approach to therapy, placing her clients at the heart of the process. She also draws upon the principles of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, and incorporates Dialectical Behavior Therapy skills into her practice. This multifaceted approach allows Abby to tailor her counseling sessions to the client’s unique needs, fostering an environment of trust, growth, and self-discovery.
Abby understands that laughter can be a powerful form of healing. She infuses humor into her therapy sessions, encouraging clients to laugh and let go of the shackles of shame. Laughter, in Abby’s view, is a gateway to understanding, resilience, and personal growth.
When Abby isn’t working, you can find her spending time with friends and family, listening to comedy podcasts, going on walks, making sourdough bread, and trying to improve her cooking skills.
