Brett Alden, LPC received his Master in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Marriage and Family Therapy from John Brown University. Brett serves as one of our school-based counselors working with primarily elementary-aged clients and families. Brett has spent over 7 years (4 years licensed) in the field of Mental Health serving children, adolescents, and adults here in Northwest Arkansas. He has treated clients struggling with anxiety, depression, anger, trauma, bipolar disorder, autism spectrum, ADHD, disruptive behaviors, conflict management, and life transitions.

Brett‘s experience spans over several modalities as he has provided outpatient therapy for adults, Intensive Family Services, fostering, and adoption to the Northwest Arkansas community. He enjoys working with individuals and families that desire to increase communication, understanding, and commitment as active participants in their own lives. Brett believes there is an unconscious mind working “behind the scenes” which can be utilized to bring about growth and self-awareness. Brett uses Client-Centered, Experiential Play Therapy strategies including sand tray therapy, Solution-Focused, and is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).  This intervention strategy helps clients transition from ‘trauma interfering in their daily life’ to ‘trauma influencing future decisions’ with reducing or mitigating of intensity and duration of symptoms.

Brett grew up in Southern California and moved to NWA in 2012.  He spends his free time entertaining and cooking with friends, spending time with his family, and engaging in new experiences and hobbies.
